Roman Mazur
Artistic Director of MAZURDANCE Roman Mazur formerly served for 32 years as Artistic Director and Main Choreographer for the world-known Kiev-based folk dance troupe “Poliot”, which had over 600 dancers, a 24 person orchestra, and which traveled to over 28 countries of the World from Taiwan till Alaska to participate in international dance competitions and festivals.
Awarded the title of “Honorary Worker of Arts of Ukraine” for the efforts in preserving dance culture. Award granted by the Ukrainian Arts Council. Artist Laureate of Dance in several Union Republics. Roman has Master Degree in both educations: dance and pedagogical. He is one of the well world-known specialists in character and folk dances. Choreographer-consultant to the Cleveland Opera during its production of Eugene Onegin. 1977-1997 he worked as a teacher of the Ukrainian National University of Culture. From 1998 choreographer-instructor of Dance Institute of Akron University, OH. He has more than 50 former students, who successfully work in many countries through the word, including the USA and Chicago.
Roman choreographed more than 150 dances from different countries of the World, also the dances for many artistic movies produced in the former USSR, including Fire Drums, which won the Oscar and was directed by Ben Barka. In 1999 under Roman leading MAZURDANCE has been chosen to participate in the cultural program of the Olympic Games (Sydney, Australia) to represent the USA and Ohio.
Tatyana Mazur
Tatyana has started the dancing career from training in world famous Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg. Long time she worked in troupe of Odessa Goverment Opera and Ballet theatre in Ukraine. As a part of troupe of the Moscow Ballet she left on a tour to India, Ceylon, Jordan, Egypt.
After the termination of the Kiev Theatrical University and Kiyevo-Mogilyansky Academy of dance, Tatyana has headed choreography Department of the Kiev’s School of Arts where she has put several ballets in own choreography for classical ensemble of the dance “Yaroslavna”. She was his Artistic Director for 10 years. The “Yaroslavna” ensemble left on a tour to Germany, Izrael, France, Poland.
After moving to the USA Tatyana for 5 years worked as professor at the Akron University (7-8 level of student education). From 2002 to 2017 she worked as the Ballett Mistress of Faubourg Ballet. 2017 – 2019 Tatyana work as key ballet teacher in Salt Creek Ballet.
Tatyana’s students work in many ballet companies in the USA, Canada and Europe.
Tatyana has prepared many students for participation in the prestigious competition Young Amreican Grand Prix where her students in 2005 and 2011 became winners in the Ensemble nomination, and in 2011 – Final Winner in New York. Tatyana was awarded of title BEST BALLETT TEACHER in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 20012, 2015.
For operating time Tatyana has put a set of ballets: Swan Lake, Snow Maden, Snow Queen, Nutcracker, La Corsair, La Bayadere, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Don Quixote, Cippolini, Coppelia, Shopeniana – a lot of them with own choreography.
